For players of melody instruments or guitar with some experience and have progressed from beginner level, separate group for those just starting out. Ceilidh and folk tunes.

Recorder Group
For improvers who have been learning for at least a year. You should be able to play at least five notes.

String Groups

String Group
For anyone who has only been learning a short time, or has played a while but would like to develop confidence as a performer.

Viol Group
For players from beginner upwards, no previous experience necessary! Viols are often found to be easier to hold than violins or cellos. Pieces are based around folk dances and can be adapted to suit abilities. Instruments will be provided and places are limited. You will need to insure the instrument as you will need to take it home to practice.

Rock School
For more advanced performers, Year 7 and above, working in small bands to rehearse and perform songs.

Guitar Groups

Beginner Guitar
For anyone just starting out, or who has been learning a short time, or has played a while but would like to develop confidence as a performer. Pieces that are easy to play and can be adapted to suit abilities. You’ll need to buy a tuition book for this course.

For beginner upwards; players should be able to manage at least a few simple chord shapes.

Years 4-6. More part-singing and rounds for this intermediate class.

Year 7 upwards. Development of repertoire, technique and ensemble skills.

Keyboard Class
For mixed ability. You will need to provide your own book and bring it to Music Centre every week! Beginners usually start with Progressive Keyboard Book 1. More confident players might use Progressive Keyboard Books 2 or 3 or move onto the Complete Keyboard Player series.
